Message from the Director
We have received numerous comments from members, new and old on how attractive our landscaping and front entrance is when one enters our facility. Hempfield Rec has taken measures to build upon our reputation to make a visit to our facility enjoyable. Our staff is to be commended on the
pride and ownership they demonstrate to keep our facility and grounds attractive. We are planning a couple capital projects next year that will enhance our facility even more. Our entrance and front desk will be revamped for better security and access for our members and participants. The gymnasium will also be renovated for year-round use.
Over the past couple years we have completed numerous capital improvements on an aging building totaling over $2 million dollars. We have been fortunate to be able to cover all these improvements through operations without a membership increase over the past four years. We have prudently managed expenses and provided a great value for membership. As 2010 approaches, we face major increases in utilities and health care costs. A small increase in membership dues is planned and will enable us to continue the same services that our members expect and deserve.
In the New Year, Hempfield Rec Center will be accepting online registration for tennis court reservations. This service will be made available through an online provider Tennis Connect. Tennis players will be able to reserve court time on the internet and have the convenience of shopping online for racquets, apparel and specials from the Court Appeal shop.
This flu season has been highlighted in national and local news with the season starting earlier and expected to last longer. Hempfield Rec takes this seriously and has implemented steps to be proactive in maintaining a clean facility and reminding members, staff and participants to wipe down equipment after use. We also encourage people to stay home and get better if they are sick. We promote a healthy environment where members and participants can come in to work out and feel safe. Let's hope for a minimal impact this flu season.
On behalf of staff and volunteers, we wish you a healthy and prosperous New Year. Thank you for your continued support.
